Do you ever feel yourself getting overcome with anxiety and needing relief ? Do you wish there was a way to prevent this from happening? Well the truth is, everyone has certain techniques and tasks to keep them calm and grounded. In this blog post I will be listing a few of my anxiety Relief Tips in hopes of inspiring and helping some of you. All of these techniques work for me, although I can’t promise they will for you as everyone is different!
Go out for a walk/Get some fresh air – A very simple one to start off with. This anxiety relief tip is easy for anyone. I enjoy going out for a walk for at least any hour everyday. I tend to split it up into two half an hour walks if it’s too hot or if I’ve got plans. So it’s extremely easy to work around. Where you go is also key. I tend to walk in more quiet and pretty areas where I can clear my head and relax.
Use a Korean Sheet Mask- I only very recently discovered these but they are a godsend. I’d use one every single day if I could afford it. But for now they are a great little treat. Korean sheet masks are single-use cotton pads that have been soaked in powerful skin-rejuvenating ingredients. Not only is it great for your skin but it gives you an excuse to lie down and relax for up to 20 minutes. This anxiety relief technique is a definite favourite of mine. I love it!
I recommend beautyandseoul if you would like to try some out!
Binge Watch a Netflix Show- This anxiety relief tip definitely speaks for itself as I’m sure everyone does this when they want to wind down. There are hundreds of TV shows and films to choose from. I love to put on a show that I can binge watch, sit back and relax. I find this a great anxiety relief technique because you begin to focus more on the characters problems than your own in the moment- even if its not real.
Tidy and/or Reorganise your room- This anxiety relief technique is more challenging as it takes longer to get motivated. Once you start, it is definitely worth it. I have a hoarding habit. Therefore the top of my chest of drawers are covered in junk and pieces of paper that I probably don’t even need. There is nothing worse for your mental health than having to look at that all day! So at least once a week I like to focus on dusting and tidying my room to the best of my abilities. It may take a while but the results look great and make you feel great too.
Complete Anxiety/Self Care Worksheets- I love finding anxiety and self care worksheets to complete. It is just like having a therapy session in your own hands. They look pretty too!
One of my favourites is the Anti-Anxiety Bundle by ShineSheets. This is an amazing anxiety relief bundle because you can use and print it out as many times as you like. I still use it for all kinds of situations as it makes me feel better every single time. I also find that writing down how you are feeling is great for tackling anxious thoughts too. Using Social Media- Social media is an amazing anxiety relief method. I love scrolling through Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram and enjoying the contents. I tend to watch funny videos or cute animal videos on youtube too because it lightens my mood almost immediately. So Social media is a great distraction from reality for half an hour at least.
Cuddle With Your Pet- This form of anxiety relief is a personal favourite of mine. I have a lovely cat called Poppy and spending time with her works wonders as it is a proven fact that owning a cat or a pet in general can help to reduce anxiety. To be honest, just seeing my cat makes me feel happier if I am going through a tough time.
Isn’t she beautiful?
Listening to music- Music is one of the best remedies for me. I can’t go anywhere without my headphones anymore because it will not feel right without them. It’s nice to have something to listen to when I am walking to and from work on my own especially. This is because listening to music means you don’t have a chance to overthink. Therefore it doesn’t give your brain a chance to make your anxiety flare up. I just put on Spotify. Open one of my playlists. Press play and enjoy the ride.
Going to the Gym/Swimming- This is a great distraction and a great way to get those endorphins going. You need to be committed but this form of anxiety relief is wonderful once you get used to it. I have a gym membership and I personally like signing up for classes. Spinning class is a definite favourite. I find that having somewhere there pushing you is more motivating and you certainly get more out of it that way. It will make you feel great physically and mentally.
Blogging- Start a blog! Simple as that. I find that putting a few hours aside a day to focus on my blog is a great disraction and form of anxiety relief. There are many blogging websites you can use to start a blog for free because I’m sure a few of you may just want to blog as a hobby. You can write about everything and anything. I personally started a mental health blog because writing down my thoughts and experiences really helps.
I hope you enjoyed reading all of my personal anxiety relief tips and I hope that they help at least some of you.
