Self-love. A difficult skill to come by if you struggle with mental health issues like myself. On some days, even trying to think of one thing I love about myself can be a massive challenge.
I used to be awfully shy, I hated my skin, my body, my hair. Literally everything about myself. If you told myself 3 years ago that I now run a blog where I preach about self-love… She will honestly never believe you. My self-love journey has been a long and winding road filled with many ups and downs. But I am finally at a perfect place where I want to be and never thought I would be.
My Introduction To Affirmations
One of the many self-love techniques that I picked up to get me to where I am today were affirmations. It was the first methods that I learned about. In all honesty, when I first read about them, the thought of it was utter nonsense. However, now I can’t imagine a day without using them at least once.
Say them out loud, say them in your head or write them down. No matter how you use them…

They work! You will feel so much better if you get into the habit of using them and you will benefit profoundly. Especially with Valentines Day fast approaching. Any singles out there like myself, try your best to focus on you. Remind yourself how perfect you are. You don’t need to hear this from any significant other. Trust me.
The following are my favourite positive affirmations for when I am struggling to love myself. We all have those days. Just learn to fight them.
The Affirmations
- I am beautiful
- I deserve the best
- I am worthy
- I am strong
- I am smart
- I am filled with love for myself
- I choose to be happy
- I am enough
- I believe in me
- I deserve respect
- I am proud of myself
- I love my body
- I am confident
- I now focus on positivity
- I deserve and accept every compliment
- I matter
- I will stand up for myself
- I choose peace
- I am grateful for the life I have
- I release all insecurities about myself
- I will not stress out over what I can’t control
- I am successful
- I attract opportunity
- I am not a burden
- I am capable of great things
- I am creative
- I make a difference
- I am radiant
- I am kind
- I love myself
There are so many additional self-love affirmations out there. You will even be able to come up with a few of your own over time. If you say them enough… Eventually, they will change you. You will believe everything that you say and become the extremely confident woman that I know you are capable of becoming. We all have this trait within us.
It may seem strange at first but it’s incredibly worth it in the end.
